Biomechanical Assessment
Our Biomechanical Assessment is designed to evaluate the alignment and function of your lower limbs, focusing on the feet, ankles, knees, and hips. For those experiencing pain in their legs, hips, or feet, this assessment provides crucial insights into the underlying causes, guiding an effective treatment plan to improve comfort and mobility.
Who May Benefit
A Biomechanical Assessment may benefit those who:
Experience recurring pain in the feet, ankles, knees, hips, or lower back
Have conditions like plantar fasciitis, shin splints, or Achilles tendonitis
Notice abnormal wear on their shoes
ifficulty maintaining balance
Participate in sports or physical activities that place stress on the lower limbs
Have recently sustained an injury that affects walking or running mechanics
By identifying imbalances and inefficiencies in movement, our podiatrists can tailor solutions to relieve pain and prevent further injury, helping you move comfortably and confidently.
Causes
Biomechanical issues often result from a range of factors, including improper footwear, repetitive strain from physical activities, poor posture, and genetic predispositions that affect gait and alignment. Even minor misalignments in the lower limbs can create significant strain, leading to compensatory movement patterns that exacerbate discomfort over time.
Symptoms
- Pain or discomfort in the lower back, hips, knees, or feet
- Stiffness or limited range of motion in the ankles or lower limbs
- Difficulty maintaining balance or feeling unstable
- Muscle tightness or frequent cramps
- Noticeable differences in the wear patterns on shoes
The Assessment Process
During the Biomechanical Assessment, our podiatrist will comprehensively examine your lower limb alignment and movement patterns. This may include a visual assessment of posture and gait, flexibility testing, and muscle strength evaluation.
Biomechanical Assessment with Digitsole Pro Technology
At the Foot Company, we incorporate the use of Digitsole Pro into our Biomechanical Assessment. Disgitsole Pro insoles have microchips embedded in them, which following a short walk or run provide our Podiatrist with a wide range of metrics for your gait. This information complements and enhances your assessment, enabling the podiatrist to formulate an effective treatment plan. Also, qualifying your gait provides our Podiatrists with baseline information to measure progress against.
Available at Altrincham, Bury, Clitheroe, Culcheth, Holmfirth, Lytham, Skipton and Walkden.
